Lower Manhattan viewed from a boat on the Hudson River during the early 1960s. In the foreground are the Erie and Erie-Lackawanna railroad freight sheds near Pier 19 at the foot of Warren Street, with the Woolworth Building, World-Telegram Building, One Chase Manhattan Plaza and the towers of the Financial District rising behind them. The piers were later demolished and the shoreline filled to create Battery Park City.
