A view from a boat on the Hudson River toward Lower Manhattan, showing the Lackawanna Railroad freight station at Pier 13 and neighboring Pennsylvania Railroad waterfront facilities. The skyscrapers of the Financial District rise behind the working waterfront, which is crowded with railroad terminals, ships and barges. This section of the shoreline was later extended with landfill and is now part of Battery Park City and the Brookfield Place waterfront.
