The Jersey Central Lines ferry Elizabeth crosses the Hudson River in front of Lower Manhattan’s busy railroad and shipping terminals. The Lehigh Valley Railroad freight facilities and United Fruit Company’s Great White Fleet terminal line the waterfront, with the Woolworth Building and Financial District skyline rising behind them. Much of this former shoreline was later covered by landfill and is now part of Battery Park City and the Brookfield Place waterfront.
